February T-Master Update

Dear Fellow Toastmasters,

I was absolutely thrilled when I pulled up the District ranking report a couple of weeks ago and realized that we were #3 in the world! I had to call International Director, Lark Doley, just to make sure I was reading it right. She confirmed that I was. Among my first reactions was disbelief. But but my friends, that emotion was edged out quickly by confidence. Confidence in the steadfastness of our leadership toward achieving District goals. Confidence in you, the membership, as you work your personal plans for success. Confidence that we are a collection of individuals who will make it happen.

With our new club officers freshly trained via the great Toastmasters Leadership Institutes conducted in January, we move confidently forward into second half of the Toastmasters year. We have so much to look forward to – club and area international speech contests, the spring conference in May and attaining all our education and leadership goals. Let’s confidently stay the course to President’s Distinguished!

Jodi Santangelo
Governor, District 16

SPRING DISTRICT CONFERENCE NEWS

“Let Your Present Create Your Future” is the theme of this spring's conference to be held May 13 and 14 at the beautiful Atherton Hotel on the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater. You can download the conference registration form now by clicking the link below. You can even pay with credit card using PayPal! Complete instructions are included on the form. When making reservations, be sure and mention that you are with Toastmasters.

Show your CLUB PRIDE at the conference by bringing your banner and banner stand! The goal is to have at least 50 banners boldly displayed at the Atherton. Stands can be purchased at business supply stores – or take Jerry Ryan’s lead (District 16 Sergeant at Arms) and use an old projector screen stand! Be sure to mark your club stand with name and phone number for easy identification.

For questions about this special spring conference, contact Conference Chair Sue Brooks, DTM, at 405-850-7904 or brooksms25@hotmail.com.

MEMBERS MATTER MOST

Lt. Governor of Marketing, Arlene Shore, is pleased to announce that three new clubs have chartered! Even more are on the horizon. Congratulations to:

Hilltop Voices # 71751 in Tulsa, Division T, chartered September 30, 2004. (Division Governor, Donna Grady; Area Governor, Margaret Page.)

Devon Energy Club # 740482 , in Oklahoma City in Division O, chartered December 1, 2004. (Division Governor, Mary Pursley; Area Governor, Mike Leviant.)

Help Point Club # 744665, in Oklahoma City in Division K, chartered January 14, 2004. (Division Governor, Geneva Davis; Area Governor, Steve Smith.)

Appreciation to: Division and Area Governors, New Club Specialists Maurice Myles and Lacinda Green, International Director, Lark Doley, and all the new club members.

BE A CLUB COACH

Once in a while we have clubs whose membership drops below 12 – and they need what Toastmasters refers to as “club coaches” to help them become vital again. Members who volunteer to help as club coaches earn credit toward their Advanced Leader designation, and can also apply the experience toward the High Performance Leadership Program. If you’d like to be a club coach, contact Arlene Shore, Lt. Governor of Marketing at shorehd@cox.net.

BOOKSTORE DEMONSTRATION MEETING PLANNED

Join Lynn Baker February 26 – 4:00 p.m. @ Full Circle Bookstore, 50 Penn Place, Oklahoma City, for a Toastmaster Demonstration meeting. Lynn will be assisted by the Standing Room Only Toastmasters Club.

DISTRICT 16 ACCOMPLISHES 100% CLUB RENEWAL

Growing our District 16 organization means retaining existing clubs and adding new ones. District 16 can be very proud that it retained ALL of its 2004 clubs coming into 2005 – and new clubs are coming on board! We’re well on our way to President’s Distinguished!
